Top 5 reasons it's good to have an irrigation ditch close by

So here goes our top 5 list plus a few pictures.

5.You get to snoop in your neighbor's backyard while sloshing through overflowing ditch water.

4. You get to slosh around in a couple of inches of standing water at your house


3. A Man's house is his castle and you now get to have a partial moat around it!

2. You can have your own personal water ponds by the house


And the Number 1 reason is.....

1. You don't have to water for a week when it overflows!



Okay so now for the rest of the story.. I was going to go up to the scout office to get some last minute things for pack meeting but I was trying to get Zach to do his morning job before we left. So he was doing that and I was going to hang up our cloth diapers to dry while we were gone and I forgot the clothes pins in the kitchen so I went back to get them and then Zach was having a moment and needed a time out so I was going to escort him to his room when I noticed that there was water like the hose was on. I checked it and it wasn't on. Then I checked the neighbor's yard but their water wasn't on so I called Josh and went over in our neighbor's backyard and there was the ditch over flowing. I came home called the city and the Ditch Master came out to look at it. We are counting our blessings that I didn't go when I had planned because I think that we would have had water in our basement in about 10 more minutes. The water came fast and went to within a foot of our south fence before it was all shut off. So the Hymn Count Your Many Blessings comes to mind..... Name them one by one... Count your many blessing see what God hath done.
