Blue and Gold

So Blue and Gold is over! Yeah! It went off really well and this year I didn't need any facial hair to attend! (last year I was the bearded lady) We did Let's Make a Deal for our theme and entertainment. The decorations were really simple. Disco Balls, paper stars, dots, and dollar signs, fake money, and a sweet banner!

For the menu we did a pasta bar that included three different kinds of noodles, marinara sauce, Alfredo sauce, green salad, green beans, corn, french bread and butter. For dessert we had a brownie Sunday bar. I would so do that again. It was easy and very cost effective.

We pounded the pavement starting in September- October and asked local businesses to donate prizes and were really pleased with how generous they were! We had some fun prizes. We played lets make a deal with our own Monte Hall in his denim suite and his lovely assistant Carol Merrel!

The leaders kicked the game show off by lip-syncing to some different songs and ended up with everyone doing YMCA together. We all wore costumes just like the show. Josh came with me and helped back behind the curtain. I think they had fun don't you?

The kids had fun and it was worth all the work.

I've been up to things!

So here are a few of the highlights that I (we've) been up to.

First up I've been busy playing in the snow! Here are a few pictures from our trip up to Aspen Grove... which was fabulous! I highly recommend it! The food and the accommodations where great!

Those are some icicles! Oh and we went snow shoeing on 5 feet of snow!
I'm raising Super Heroes and here's proof!

We Built this shelf for the toy room! I'll have to post a completed photo later :) But it was a family affair!

Zach started the 6th set of Baggy Books!

Next up I grew a beard!

Okay rest of the story! For Blue and Gold for our Cub Scouts we had a Circus theme and I was the bearded lady. It was pretty fun! A lot of work but worth it for the boys!

And finally one last picture!

I think I better teach my little super hero that underwear goes under the costume and not on our heads!

Scouts!

So I have this new calling and I get to be the cub committee chair. Basically it means that I get to make sure that the cubscouts function in our ward. I had my first pack meeting about 2 weeks ago and here are a couple show and tell pictures courtesy of Josh.. he insisted before I walked out of the house to go set up. Love that guy...

And this one...

The theme was Jurassic Park so we made bone shaped bowling pins out of paper mache and then papermached some really big plastic easter eggs for the bowling balls. The scouts really liked that. Josh helped me put together a cd with Dinosaur sounds on it for our mood music. It was great! For the boys to get their awards we turned off the lights and went on a dinosaur egg hunt. Our cub master Leslie was in front with a flashlight and I was in the back with a flash light. We've got the dino music on and she grunts at me and I grunt back and we walk around the room with the 5 scouts that were getting awards. At one point I wasn't really paying attention and Leslie grunts at me and I make this really girly grunting sound and she started to laugh and I started to laugh and all the adults were laughing.. It was pretty funny. I think the kids enjoyed it. Oh the fun we're going to have with the scouts!

Homemaking 101

Does anyone else feel like it's time for a refresher course on homemaking 101? Maybe we should watch a few seasons of Leave it to Beave...
