Kitchen Tile!

We've had the tile in for a little bit now and I LOVE it. Josh and I were looking at some pictures and noticing how different the kitchen looks now. We worked really hard! There are still a few things left to do but we'll get it done! I had my friend Amber come over and help me decorate the tops of my cabinets and it looks FABULOUS! I'm so excited about that. That happened in October so we've had plenty of time to enjoy it. So are you ready for the tile pictures? Well here they are!




I love the look of our kitchen and I'm so grateful for all the help we've had in doing this big project from the cabinets to decorating, Thanks so much!

House Projects

Do you ever wonder what happens when we work on the house? Say for instance the back splash. Who does what and how it all comes together? Well today I'll take you on a picture journey of who does the work around here :)

That table that's in the corner was our kitchen table... the small little thing.. Now it's going into retirement for a while. It's seen many meals from the family since my Grandpa had it when his little family was at BYU!
Well I think that pretty much wraps up our projects for a minute!

It's in!

The counter tops are in! Two weeks of no water in the kitchen have come to an end! yeah we did it! I'll have pictures tomorrow for you! Today is a cleaning and put the kitchen back together day! I'm really excited about it though. Josh and My Uncle did a great job! I told Josh he could take December off of home improvement projects and then we need to do the back splash :)

Kitchen Chairs Makeover

Since I have this stylin' new kitchen I needed to make over my tired and well loved kitchen chairs. They were given to us from my parents when they got new ones so if those chairs could talk I'm sure they could tell you all sorts of stories about how I was such an caring and kind older sister but I digress.. Here is a before of our chairs.



I took some of this because I'm an instant gratification kinda girl....


Cleaned the stickies that I'm sure aren't on anyone elses chairs...lightly sanded and I mean lightly.. just enough to kind a rough it up. Then Sam and I checked the outside tempturature and did a happy dance because it was 50 degrees and we could spraypaint.


After they were dried I destress the edges and things because I figure it will get that way anyway.



Then I polyied (I know I made that word up :) )them and lala as Zach says.


I did find a few spots where I wasn't very good with the spraypaint but because I was going for that destressed look it turned into a creative opportunity and they look just fine! Hope you enjoy! I'll do the table in the next little while..

A little tease!

Okay so I know you've been holding your breath (hopefully not all weekend and certainly not for the last 6 months) to see what we have been up to. Well I don't have a good picture of the kitchen because I was planning on taking that today but my dear husband has been busy doing some prep work for the counter tops!! Yea!!! Anyway here are some pictures. During this lovely remodel we've put blood sweat and you guessed it tears.

We started with a kitchen that looked like this...

and made them look like this with lots of sanding, painting, and glazing!

After spilling this... what a day that was! Didn't know if I should laugh or cry...

So now you've gotten a little peek into our kitchen remodel job I'll show you really pictures when I can get them... and later I'll do a tutorial on what I'm doing to my kitchen chairs!

Missing in Action

So things have been busy lately... My friend Mandy and I picked our neighbor's apple tree and did 41 quarts of pretty pink applesauce in three days! That was fun! We picked one day and sauced the next two.


We've planted a tree in the back yard and Sam learned how to climb up the slide stairs in the back yard. He was pretty sad when the weather turned and he couldn't play out side. I spray painted a brass ceiling fan I got on clearance black and we hung that up in the master bedroom. It looks great!

But what's really going to keep me busy this week is the fact that the family is decending on our house for a late lunch early dinner saturday... What did we do? So today I finished painting the baseboards upstairs and we moved some things from the living room to the back bedroom downstairs.... So if you are the lucky ones that are coming on Saturday... Don't look under the couches or in the back bedroom :)

I've also decided that next week I'll reveal our kitchen project.. It's not quite done but we've come along way.. Enjoy this before picture of our kitchen.

So what are we doing besides making a huge mess everywhere? Well you see we have really nice family who got new kitchen cabinets and gave us their old ones (Thanks Aaron and Andrea) So we can tear down our old pantry that had an abyss where if you wanted something back there you had to send your first born in to get it out for you. Plus the consturction wasn't very well thought out and I was afraid that it was going to fall down eventually anyway. So we're moving the fridge onto the other wall and adding more counterspace next to the dishwasher and stove. It should be great! Plus we'll get new counter tops too! So slow and steady wins the race and we'll have a new kitchen... I'll keep you updated on the progress :)
