2013 Summer Road Trip Day 1

So our first day of driving to West Lafayette, Indiana consisted of driving in the car for about 10.5 hours. Yes it was long. Yes there isn't a whole lot to see... but we found the best book on CD by accident! It's a series called Children of the Lamp and the first book is called The Akhenaten Adventure by Philip Kerr. It's 10 hours long however we didn't listen to all of it that day. We need to mix it up a bit.

We saw mountains like this in Wyoming.

We saw Lots of windmills the whole way.
 We drove through a tunnel.

We even saw one of Grandpa's Trucks!
We were excited to see this sign.
And there was plenty of playing with guys going on!
The kids were excited when we got to the hotel. We were lucky and stayed in one that had 2 water slides and a little kid pool to swim in. Then that night they shot off fireworks just across the freeway and we could see them from our room!

Sam loved climbing in the squid.
Zach loved going on the water slides. I think he did that about 20 times! It was a fun place for sure!
And then it was time to go to bed so we could get up and drive some more.

So while driving on the main road in the middle of a little town we saw this.

We of course had to pull over and take advantage of the photo op!

Did we get lost?

I knew I had been neglecting my blog but I hadn't realized it had been that long! I promise I haven't been abducted by aliens or even gotten lost in the amazon! I'm still here doing the things that I do every day. I was looking at the calendar today and realized that there are only three more weeks of school! It sure doesn't feel like that! Hum Where should I start? Maybe spring break would be a good place to start! Josh took a couple of days off during spring break and we headed to Grandma's house. It was cold but we had a lot of fun. Aunt Jeni and her frined Tiff came up with a treasure hunt and the boys loved it! Here's a few pictures.

They had some pretty fun bounty

One of the main reason's we went was to run a race together! We ran the Gunnison Valley Spring Run off. Everyone one ran... Okay at least a little :) Here's a few pictures!

More to come!

Were we've been!

I know that lots of you have been busy with end of school year events and summer starting (well at least the calendar thinks so). Here's what we've been up too!

The boys went to father's and son's and had a good time! Sam got to go to so I was all by my lonesome! That doesn't happen very often. It was kind a weird having the house all to myself but I did enjoy my subway sandwich and my favorite TV shows!

Sam with his rocket...

Zach got to go fishing for a field trip. It snowed and rained on them... It was May 24th! Spring is supposed to be here! Oh well huh they had fun!

Then the inevitable happened.... Zach graduation from Kindergarten! It was a good sad day... I know someday I need to grow up but do my babies have to too? :)

Then it was time for vacation! We went to Grandma's house and hiked around Big Rock Candy Mountain,

Then Aunt Jeni treated us to brownie sundaes! I should have taken a picture but was too excited to eat it! Let me tell you.. it was perfect with a fudgy warm brownie topped with the perfect size scoop of ice cream and whipped cream and a strawberry on top instead of a cherry! I was in heaven.. I think we might have to go again so I can have another one!

We road the horse!

by the way it takes 5 people to ride the horse.. two little boys to ride, one adult to lead the horse and 2 adults to hold on to the little boys to make sure they are safe :)

Then we went to Discovery Gateway. Clark Planetarium, Lion House Pantry, Museum of Natural History, The aquarium, and This is the Place Heritage Park. On different days but it was busy and fun. Here are my favorite pictures from those days!

So we've been to the moon, the age of the dinosaurs, the pioneer times, under the sea, and now we're back! It was a fun Vacation!

Is it really February?

Life has been so busy that I'm almost positive that it is still January.. but I Lucky for us it's February and a beautiful day at that! I shipped Zach outside because that's where all little boys should be on a spring day, wearing their snow books and playing in what little mud they can find!

Josh and I went for a little get-a-way this last weekend and I'm excited to show you pictures and tell you all about it.. but the desktop is being funny so I get to use the laptop and we don't have it set up to download the pictures to it. So just imagine lots of Pine trees snow softly falling and 5 feet of snow and I'll fill in the middle with pictures after Josh redoes the desktop!

Labor Day!

I think Labor Day is all about playing! Okay well it should be don't we all work to hard everyday? We spent the weekend at grandma's house. We got to catch a high school football game where Uncle John made a crucial fumble recovery from the opposing team. Zach is quite the little fan. He was saying things like "Hit him with your shoulder Uncle John!" and "Get the white guys Uncle John!" The opposing team was wearing white jerseys.

We also went down to Captial Reef and hiked around the beautiful red rock. Here are some fun pictures!

I think these two are two peas in a pod!

I love this picture!

And who can have a hike with out a little accident... Duct tape...never leave home without it!

And of course we had to have the traditional horse ride on Chester!

Homemaking 101

Does anyone else feel like it's time for a refresher course on homemaking 101? Maybe we should watch a few seasons of Leave it to Beave...
