April Fools!

So I know that it's a bit past April Fools Day but I thought you might like to see what I did this year and maybe you could try it for next year or anytime just to mix things up a bit!

I don't like to play jokes per-say since they tend to get mean really fast but what I do like to do is to make funny food soo. The menu for Dinner was

Fish sticks, Mashed potatoes and gravy with peas

Fish sticks = waffer cookies covered in peanut butter and cornflaks
Mashed Potatoes = vanilla Ice Cream
Gravy = Butterscotch topping
Peas = little balls of green airheads

and for dessert Pie

Pie = Meatloaf topped with Mashed potatoes!

It was fun and Zach really looks forward to my crazy mixed up food every year. I got these ideas off of Family Fun's website and combined a couple different "dinners" so suit my taste.

April Fools Day

At our house we don't believe in doing mean pranks for April fools but we do like to have fun with our food. The Boys were lucky and I didn't do anything for breakfast that was weird. Now lunch on the other had was fun. I made chicken Nuggets and sweet and sour sauce. Labor intensive you think... nope because these were made from banana pieces covered in peanut butter and then rolled in graham cracker crumbs.. for Sam I did yogurt and cheerio crumbs instead with apricot jam to dip it in. Zach thought that was cool. He asked me what it was and I said chicken nuggets and he said.. "No mom there's banana in there!"

For dinner we had taco salad and cupcakes... Taco salad was broken sugar cones topped with chocolate ice cream, green colored coconut, whipped cream, and diced strawberries for salsa. The cupcakes were muffin meatloaf and mashed potato frosting. It was really yummy.

I was taking dinner to a family in our ward and took the same things.They liked it. For them I tinted the mashed potatoes blue but didn't have time to do the rest of the mashed potatoes so Zach had to try both of the different colors of mashed potatoes. He was a little disappointed that they tasted the same. :)

Homemaking 101

Does anyone else feel like it's time for a refresher course on homemaking 101? Maybe we should watch a few seasons of Leave it to Beave...
