2013 Summer Road Trip Day 1

So our first day of driving to West Lafayette, Indiana consisted of driving in the car for about 10.5 hours. Yes it was long. Yes there isn't a whole lot to see... but we found the best book on CD by accident! It's a series called Children of the Lamp and the first book is called The Akhenaten Adventure by Philip Kerr. It's 10 hours long however we didn't listen to all of it that day. We need to mix it up a bit.

We saw mountains like this in Wyoming.

We saw Lots of windmills the whole way.
 We drove through a tunnel.

We even saw one of Grandpa's Trucks!
We were excited to see this sign.
And there was plenty of playing with guys going on!
The kids were excited when we got to the hotel. We were lucky and stayed in one that had 2 water slides and a little kid pool to swim in. Then that night they shot off fireworks just across the freeway and we could see them from our room!

Sam loved climbing in the squid.
Zach loved going on the water slides. I think he did that about 20 times! It was a fun place for sure!
And then it was time to go to bed so we could get up and drive some more.

Ah Summer!

Doesn't this picture say it all! Isn't summer about making sheet tents over a clothes line and reading books in it or drawing pictures? I love it when Zach gets grand ideas like this. They had fun in there all day. By the way this was at like 8:00 this morning! I know the kids are up and at'em early at our house!

Zach finished up swim lessons today! He did really good. He's really improved in the last month! Way to go buddy!

Incidentally as a little side note... if you get grossed out easily don't read the rest of this :)

One of the hazards one might say to hanging your clothes on a clothesline at least at our house is sometime you bring in unwanted guests with the clothes. Tonight there was an earwig in the bathtub so he got put in the toilet and when I got out a diaper cover (we do cloth diapers so this totally is normal) there was one in there and so he went in the toilet too. We've been in the habit of asking Sam if he needs to go potty at night and sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. He wanted to so we put him on there. I was waiting for screams since there were bugs in the toilet but instead he was laughing having a good time trying to shoot them! There's boys and going potty for you! Silly kids!

26 Days!

There are 26 days until.... The First Day of Kindergarten! Wow where did the summer go.. Lets count the ways!

June was full of Kitchen demolition and rebuilding. Remeber this?

And that white stuff on sam's finger isn't frosting.. It's joint compound Yum Yum!

Then there was the family reunion and a stop at the BYU art museum to see this exhibit.

Plus a trip to the Zoo with Grandma and the twins!

Tomorrow we'll talk about July!

Homemaking 101

Does anyone else feel like it's time for a refresher course on homemaking 101? Maybe we should watch a few seasons of Leave it to Beave...
