Crying?!?

So have you ever cried over something so silly it's funny, like spilled milk? Well a couple days ago I decided that it was time to clean out my pantry. I really don't think it's been done since we built it and I got to actually use it last summer so yes it was time. I know we all probably have odd things in our pantry and my odd thing is a crayon maker... I hide it there so I don't have to make crayons every other day :) So the crayon maker was on the counter and Zach really wanted to make crayons. I finally relented after I had put all the stuff that should go back in the pantry in. Sam was down for a nap and the timing seemed perfect. Help Zach make crayons while I did some desk work at the kitchen table... Perfect. We did batch #1 (which is only three crayons) and 20 minutes later we had some pretty cool looking crayons and a Sam that had woken up an hour early. Joy! Then Zach being the wonderful big brother who doesn't like anyone to be left out asks Sam if he would like to make crayons too. I protest but relent since things were going well. We break the crayons and arrange them on the melting tray. Pull the lid down and turn the timer on so start the melting process. Things are going well. Sam, wishing to see what's going on better, moves the machine and Zach freaks out, almost hyperventilating, afraid that Sam is going to knock off the machine or get burned. So this scenario happens about 5 times, during which I'm about ready to pull my hair out since I really didn't want Sam in on this little project anyway. FINALLY the crayons were ready to come off the machine and cool in the mold for a little bit. After about 5 minutes I pop them out and Zach is showing Sam the crayons that are still a little warm. I head to the bathroom and then I hear this loud cry from Zach which quickly goes into hysterics. "What's wrong?" I ask. Zach between sobs says "Sam broke my most favorite crayon!" and continues to cry. Sam comes up beside him and he starts to cry too! So here I am in the bathroom (you know there is no privacy for moms anyway) with two kids hysterical over a crayon that we can melt back together. I just laughed... I couldn't help it. Zach I think finally calmed down after about 20 minutes. And where, might one ask, did the special crayon go? In the nicely cleaned out pantry so it was "safe" from the little brother.

Honestly...if I had a dollar for every time Boston cried over something so dumb...I'd be rich! You have to laugh though, they make for good memories :)

Homemaking 101

Does anyone else feel like it's time for a refresher course on homemaking 101? Maybe we should watch a few seasons of Leave it to Beave...
